Back at the end of June, I woke as usual on a Friday morning to get ready for work. I hopped in the shower, fed and watered the animals, made a cup of tea and went back upstairs to wake Ben. However, this morning had a bit of a difference – I was surprising Ben with the news that he had to pack a bag as we were going away for the weekend to celebrate his birthday!
It’s my birthday today and I’m turning the grand old age of 33. THIRTY THREE YEARS OLD. That’s a proper grown-ups age and yet, in my mind, I feel a good decade or so younger (not in my knees though, my knees are ruined).
A few weeks ago we popped down to Hopefield Animal Sanctuary in Brentwood (Essex) to take a look at the amazing work they do and the animals they’ve given a second chance to. Despite it being fairly local to us, it’s not somewhere I had ever visited before and now I’ve been there I can’t help but wonder, what took us so long??
We recently got back from what will go down in history as one of the best holidays of my life. No, the best holiday of my life (to date). Granted, I have a whole lifetime of holidays still to come, but this one was truly special and for so many different reasons.
I can’t quite believe I’m writing this! I’m engaged! Even as a little girl, being Miss Fiercely Independent, I always told everybody that I wasn’t going to get married. I didn’t see it being part of my story and I didn’t even consider it happening to me until I got together with Ben, yet here I am, typing this with the most perfect, beautiful ring glistening on my left hand and I can’t quite believe it! Here’s our engagement story…
