I can’t quite believe I’m writing this! I’m engaged! Even as a little girl, being Miss Fiercely Independent, I always told everybody that I wasn’t going to get married. I didn’t see it being part of my story and I didn’t even consider it happening to me until I got together with Ben, yet here I am, typing this with the most perfect, beautiful ring glistening on my left hand and I can’t quite believe it! Here’s our engagement story…
If you’ve been on social media today, you may well have seen various references to the fact that today is National Selfie Day. (Yes, there is a day for seemingly everything!) Brands are using it to promote their wares, influencers are sharing perfectly poised images of themselves, and the rest of us regular Joe’s and Josephine’s are warily uploading photos of our faces and hoping people don’t think we’re being narcissistic (or, alternatively, not uploading a picture for that exact reason).
But, is embracing your own image and uploading a picture of your face to the internet really narcissistic, or do we just find ourselves in a world where self-love is so frowned upon that any sign of appreciation of ourselves is chalked up as a negative?
This is something I’ve been thinking about for a while now, and today seems like the perfect time to talk about it.
(Prepare yourself, it’s a long one today as I need to catch up on 3 weeks of happenings!)
Can you believe it? We’re into the sixth month of the year already! It seems like only yesterday I was listening to the gentle tones of Auld Lang Syne and kicking 2017 out the back door to let 2018 in the front, and yet here we are, just a few short weeks from being officially halfway through the year.
It’s been pretty bloomin’ humid out there recently hasn’t it? When our British summer time decides to bless us with its presence, it usually does so with a heavy helping of mugginess too, meaning the entire population of the country becomes slightly sticky to the touch, wandering around helplessly seeking even the slightest breeze. Is it just me or does anyone else find the heat here much more stifling than abroad?
“Ethical” – it’s the buzz word of the moment, isn’t it? In the past few years you’ll have been hard pushed to miss the awakening of society as a whole as we realise we have been living without care for too long, impacting both this planet of ours and those who live upon it. And with fast fashion being churned out on our High Streets, it makes a pleasant change to find a brand who are working hard to level the playing field and make a difference – step in Sacet, offering high quality jewellery with a conscience.
