All across the world today there are people, just like me, who are looking back on the year that has passed and ahead to the year that is to come. It’s the perfect time to review what you’ve done, what you’ve learnt and how you’ve grown as a person, and to begin planning adventures and intentions for the year ahead.
If you’re a regular reader of blogs you’ll be inundated with people clicking ‘publish’ on their own version of this post today, but I like to write these every year – they’re great to look back on as a way to gauge how far you’ve come. I don’t set New Year’s Resolutions as I know it’s pointless because I’ll never stick to them, and tomorrow I’ll be writing about my hopes for the year ahead (so be sure to check back to read that) but in the meantime – how was 2018 for me?
I think Instagram might just be my new favourite social media platform. I used to be hooked on Twitter, chatting with people from all across the world, reading news and opinions, and laughing at videos of animals, but with the various political happenings of the past couple of years I soon noticed the tone had changed and suddenly it seemed to be the go-to online community for every Tom, Dick and Harry to spout their toxic attitudes. Instagram, albeit definitely suffering from a few faults of its own, seems to be a much happier environment and so it’s where I find myself most often when I’m scrolling endlessly and mindlessly.
So, with the end of the year upon us and my annual reflection upon what has passed in the last 12 months as well as what I hope for the year to come, I also like to make use of a website called Top Nine which allows you to see which were your most liked photos of the year on Instagram. I’ve done this every year for the past few years and sometimes it can be quite a surprise to see which pics have got the most attention!
Scented candles – I find they’re a little bit like marmite; people either seem to love them or hate them. I’m definitely a lover of them and with the chilly winter evenings and dismal rainy days, there’s something lovely about lighting a couple of candles and getting cosy.
That said, having two nosey cats in the house is a bit of a fire hazard, so we can only ever light candles if they’re tucked away safely inside the lanterns we have in our living room, otherwise there would be absolute carnage!
Pyjama Factory very kindly gifted me with these PJs. All opinion remain, of course, 100% honest and my own.
I know I’m not alone in feeling like this, but I just can’t relax at home whilst wearing my ‘outdoor clothes’. Whenever I walk in my front door I’m straight up those stairs to get changed into my comfy clothes – the jeans are off and the joggers are on! So, imagine my sheer delight when Pyjama Factory said they would like to send me some fresh new togs to relax in. Could this be my dream collab? Quite possibly.
Today I want to tell you all about a brilliant dog-focussed brand that you need to know about if you’re looking to buy something for a special canine in your life – The Hungry Hounds Bakery.
