About

Hello! My name is Penny – welcome to my blog! I’m in my 30s and live with my boyfriend (Ben) and our chaotic family of fur balls (two cats and a dog) in our cosy (read: small) rented home in Essex.

I’ve been blogging for a few years now, dipping in and out of it during my teens, before starting to focus more time on it once I was into my 20s and wanted to document my journey through the minefield of dating  (Buzzfeed featured me on their list of “22 Horrendous Break-Up Stories” so that tells you how well it was going for me back then!) But with the transitions of my life, A Penny For Them has changed too, and is now firmly settled down in the ‘lifestyle’ category as I share my everyday happenings, milestones and events.

Although I do get to do some exciting and fun things because of this blog, first and foremost it is a hobby  (I work full time in London as an Office Manager) and somewhere for me to capture my memories to look back on when I’m old and grey. I don’t know about you but I think it’s pretty awesome that future generations might be able to visit this website one day and get to know me in my own words rather than through stories they’ve been told.

Aside from working and blogging, I try to fill my life with fun and happiness – I’m all about making memories and having experiences rather than material things. That said, there’s only so much you can do on an Office Manager’s salary, so as much as I would love to be going to fancy restaurants and travelling the world, most of the time you can find me snuggled under a blanket on the sofa, binge-watching TV boxsets or reading about true crime (anyone else obsessed with crime stories?!)

One thing I can promise you – without exception – is openness and honesty. I write about the highs and lows, the good days and the bad. I don’t want to paint my life as being a picture of perfect as that would be unfair – whose life is perfect after all?

I do, from time to time, get the chance to review products, venues or events and, when I do, these will be written with the same level of honesty. If I like something I’ll shout about it from the rooftops, if I don’t, I’ll tell you the too. (You can read more in my Disclosure Policy and Privacy Policy, should that be the sort of thing you find interesting…)

So take a look around, make yourself at home, and feel free to drop me a line – I’m always up for a good chat. Here’s where you can find me:
