I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this before, but I have a dog. Oh, I have? Maybe just once or twice, eh?
Well, my pup is one of the little lights of my life. Whether it’s her joy at seeing me when I get home from work, her endless cuddles and licks, the lazy Sunday naps we take together, or the fact she adores me even when I’m not at my best, there really is something magical about the love of a dog and my life would be much quieter without her in it.
Here’s a photo of her, just because. Look at that face!
Anyway, enough showing her off, onto the reason for this post…
A few weeks ago a very exciting email popped into my Inbox from the team over at Barc London, offering Poppy one of their high-quality leather collars. The collar she was wearing had been starting to look a little ropey and I’d said several times to Ben that I needed to look at getting her a replacement, so it was perfect timing.
Barc London was a new brand name to me so I had a little look at their website to see what they were all about and what collars they had available, and I was very pleasantly surprised!
Currently, you can buy both leads and collars in a range of 6 colours – black, cream, blue, grey, pink and nude – although they will be adding harnesses to their range in the near future, something I definitely think is a great idea as harnesses are much safer in terms of reducing damage to a dogs neck if they pull when going for a walk. However, Poppy wears a collar all the time, even when she’s indoors so a brand new one to replace her well-worn old one was very welcome indeed.
As she’s a “bit of a bruiser” (as my mum would say) in terms of appearance, I always buy her pink collars just to soften her a bit and stop people calling her a boy when they see her.
The collar arrived in good time and was well packaged in a cardboard box and tissue paper, and upon opening it I was absolutely thrilled – as collars go, this one is a beaut!
Will you just look at that rose gold detailing? ALL the heart eye emojis.
In terms of quality, they weren’t lying on their website when they said their pieces are high-quality, with the leather being soft to the touch and well cushioned to ensure there are no hard edges that could rub against her wonderfully-flabby she-must-have-inherited-that-from-me neck.
Strangely, when I got the parcel, I opened the lid and before I said anything or she could see what was inside, she jumped off the sofa and came running over to me. Somehow she knew it was for her and she proudly posed for photographs after I slipped it on her – granted, I had to hold a treat above the camera to make her sit still (hence the look of concentration on her face in the photo at the top of this post) but we got there in the end.
Overall, I am so pleased with this collar – the design, the craftsmanship and the quality of it are fantastic and much better than any of the collars I’ve bought from High Street stores and Amazon in the past. They aren’t cheap at £30.00 a pop for the collars and £35.00 for the leads but when a product is this well-made you know it’s going to last you a long time, and for something that’s worn every day, I think it’s worth making an investment and buying well.
With different size dogs catered for and the range covering both male and female stereo-typed and non-gender-defining colours, I genuinely think these classy, elegant collars are worth every penny and I 100% recommend them. As and when this collar has it’s best days behind it, I’ll definitely be returning to Barc London to re-purchase, and I’ll be keeping an eye on their website for the launch of their harnesses in the coming weeks!
Thanks Barc for sending Poppy her new collar, she looks absolutely sterling in it!
