Last week was a strange week, seeming to simultaneously fly by in a flurry of activity, yet drag at the same time leaving me clock watching for 5pm every day so I could leave the office and get home.
Activity-wise, I can’t say I did very much. Dog walking, housework, cosying up on the sofa watching films (not very exciting and hardly blog-worthy, but definitely good for the soul) and on Thursday we went to a wedding reception which was nice – I love a wedding I do.
I’m struggling to write anything at the moment, I feel like I’ve lost my blogging mojo somehow. Every time I sit down to write something I end up with a big empty head and a blank screen in front of me; not ideal as I have so much I want to tell you about. I’m toying with the idea of changing the look of A Penny For Them and giving it a new layout, I feel like it’s time to give it a new look to match my new lifestyle. Same as always with me, I have all the grand plans and no time to allow me to do it!
I was messing about sending silly photos to a friend of mine and when I saw this one I thought my heart was going to explode! Poppy looks so content! In the past 6 weeks I’ve seen a huge change in her; she’s making me so proud. Her barking is improving, as is her walking, she loves her feline brothers and she’s so much calmer. She looks happy. It’s like she’s suddenly realised that this is it, she’s ours, she’s safe and we aren’t going anywhere. There’s still a long way to go with our training but to know it’s working and she feels happy, safe and loved makes all the heartache and stress worth it.
I love this make-up bag my brother and his fiance bought me, it’s the perfect size for everything I need.
Post-walk doggie smiles, someone enjoyed herself!
This describes me perfectly! I am a chronic over-thinker, always have been and probably always will be, but I want to try and learn to just take each day as it comes and not always worry that things are going to go wrong.
My outfit for the wedding reception we went to on Thursday. I bought this Phillip Armstrong dress from Matalan last year and at £25 it was an absolute bargain!
A bit of photo booth action.
Love this photo from the evening we spent at Haydy’s – we had such a fun night and discovering Blood Orange Southern Comfort was a game-changer!
This is what a Friday night at my house looks like – blanket, animals and a film. Little slice of perfection right there.
We spent the entire weekend decorating my house. As the walls were in such poor condition we had to spent Saturday plastering, then Sunday was spent sanding and washing the walls, then putting on a coat of white paint. Unfortunately we ran out so I have to go to B&Q tonight to buy some more. I’m also going to buy a colour for the walls, I’m thinking of a biscuit-type tone, but I’ll see what takes my fancy when I get there…
I saw this quote online last night and thought it needed sharing. Too often women want to tear each other down, something I can’t stand. There is so much pressure on women these days to be ‘everything’, do we really need to make it worse by turning on each other too? I’m incredibly lucky as the women in my world are all loyal, loving and genuinely happy when good things happen for me, as well as being there for me when times are tough. True friendship can be measured in the joy you take from each other’s happiness; there’s no place for jealousy or one-upmanship.
This week, thanks to Haydy, I discovered a new blog – 21 Grosvenor Close – and I was instantly hooked. The writer, Louise, has such an amazing way with words and is a natural born storyteller, you have got to check it out, you won’t be disappointed.
Have a good week everyone! If you want me, I’ll be up a ladder with a paintbrush in hand!
