Since Ben and I got together, we have done nothing but have adventures together. Whether it’s visiting a new eaterie at home in Essex, spending a day (or night) exploring the streets of London, or venturing to places unknown, we seem to have a shared desire to do and see as much as we possibly can.
Earlier this year we stayed at the stunning Bishops Castle Barn in Shropshire where I left a little part of my heart behind, then in July I took him to Edinburgh for his birthday, and coming up later this year we have a week in Crete and a surprise weekend away somewhere in Europe for my 30th – I have no idea where we’re going but I’m very excited!
Growing up, our family holidays were always in the UK, with my first holiday abroad coming in 2001 when I visited Paris with my college class. Following that I’ve been to Tenerife, Croatia and Morocco, and – despite my intense fear of flying – I have a long list of places I would like to visit in the future. I’ve listed some of these on my Bucket List but to be honest, there’s so many I haven’t added to it yet – I basically want to go everywhere!
Having seen this infographic online from Great Rail Journeys about the colours of India, it got me thinking about my ever-growing need to see the world, so I thought I’d share my top 5 places to visit with you.
Ever since watching the film ‘In Bruges’, I’ve been desperate to visit – it’s absolutely stunningly beautiful! With small cobbled streets, squares surrounded by cafes and bars, and cute quirky buildings, this really is right up my street.
I’ve been fascinated with Pompeii ever since I was a little girl and first heard the story of the tragedy that occurred there. I’ve watched so many documentaries about it and whilst being utterly heart-wrenching to think about what those people went through, visiting Pompeii is a rare opportunity to take a step back in time and see what life was like all those years ago.
As a fan of Formula 1, it’s always the Monaco race I look forward to the most as not only is it a great track to watch the drivers race around, but the scenery is stunning. I would absolutely love to spend a few days there and catch the race at the same time, however, I may need to win the lottery first!
Friends of mine visited Kefalonia a few years ago and their holiday photos caught my eye, causing me to start doing a little research and I soon added this to my list of places to go. Apparently there’s a beach that hundreds of turtles converge on; that must be an incredible sight!
This has been on my To Visit list for such a long time but I’ve never been – silly really when you consider it’s not that far away! My best friend Carly and I have been saying we will go but somehow the years march on and it’s never happened. We will have to make it happen in the next few years as we’ve never had a weekend away together and I think it’s high time we did!
The countdown to my surprise birthday weekend away is ON and I am so looking forward to it. Obviously I will blog all about it when I get back – be sure to keep an eye on my social media channels as well, as I’m sure I’ll be telling you all where I’m going as soon as I find out!
This list is by no means definitive as there are lots of other places I haven’t named that I am desperate to go to;
what destinations would you love to venture to?
