It’s been over a month since I wrote anything here. Over a month in which I kept thinking about blogging but just couldn’t find the time, inclination or the words to do so. A month in which my life has changed so dramatically that it is unrecognisable when compared to the existence I was living at the beginning of February.
So, what’s been happening?
Well, I left K and am currently back living in my mum’s spare room while I wait for the paperwork to go through on a house I’ll be renting with my friend. Oh, and I’ve also got a dog. So yeah, I guess you could say I’ve been pretty busy!
I won’t go into a huge amount of detail here because I feel it’s disrespectful to him, but there was no huge blow-out or argument with K, just a gradual recognition on my part that it didn’t feel right. We got on great, we had a laugh, but fundamentally we are very different people with vastly different beliefs and outlooks on the world, and I came to realise that ultimately, it wasn’t a forever thing. There’s no bad feeling, no fighting, just a grown up separation.
I’ve spent a lot of the past few weeks with friends and feel very positive about the future. I have such wonderful people around me and I feel very contented and calm. Obviously nothing is ever quite that simple and there has been some stress and worry, nights of next-to-no sleep while I’ve fretted about what I’m going to do going forward, but overall, I feel good.
Accommodation-wise, I’m back in my mum’s spare room which I guess is a little strange for both her and me. Twice I’ve moved out and twice I’ve come back. I’m pretty sure she’ll barricade the door the next time I leave to make sure I don’t boomerang back here again!
That said, it will only be a few weeks until I leave as my friend and I have found a property to rent. It’s a great little 2-bedroom house with a garden (perfect for the dog) and is going to be the scene for a lot of happy times, I can tell. We’re just waiting for all the paperwork to go through and then we are hot to trot. We’re both mega excited about having a little expedition to Ikea one weekend to buy house things!
One of the best parts of the past few weeks has been getting my pooch. She’s a Staffordshire Bull Terrier crossed with a Boxer and is so beautiful it makes my heart swell when I look at her. At the moment she is with Rachael at her house until I get my place and she can move in. I’m counting down the days and hours until I can laze on the sofa in my house with my dog and the cats. We’re going to be such a happy little family unit and I feel like this new chapter of my life is going to be something pretty special.
Bring it on!
