As I mentioned in my previous post, my birthday this year fell on the weekend of K’s best friend’s wedding. On the Friday evening, the night before the big day, we went for a meal with the groom and his family to celebrate his last night as a single man. Although I didn’t know most of the people there, I still had such a great time and totally forgot it was my birthday in the end!
I don’t know the name of the place we went (bad blogger!) but the food was incredible. I opted for carrot and orange soup as it sounded really unusual, and I wasn’t at all sure what to expect, but I can honestly say it’s the nicest soup I have ever eaten! I had no idea those two flavours would combine so well! For my main meal I had beef with horseradish mash potato which was beautiful too; the beef fell apart in my mouth where it had been cooked so perfectly.
Soz about the ‘Angelina Leg’ – I was trying to show the splits!
My outfit for the night was an AX Paris jumpsuit from House of Fraser. I fell in love with it the minute I saw it on the website and it’s even more special when you see the real thing! I’ve always steered clear of jump suits in the past as I’m a bit on the short side (5ft 2) but this really works for us little’uns too, with the cut of it working to accentuate the figure, disguising lumps and bumps and nipping in at the waist. The splits down either leg give it a little edginess, whilst retaining the overall elegant feel. I couldn’t be more in love with it and wore it to a hen night this weekend too – I can see it getting a lot of use!
A few months ago – when my blog was in the middle of it’s revamp (and the code corrupting!) I was sent some goodies from House of Fraser. I have to admit, when the package arrived at the door, I was totally unprepared for what I was going to find inside – they’d been really generous!
Within the package there were various perfumes, beauty items and a gorgeous clutch bag which I’ve already had a couple of people ask to borrow when they’ve seen it! There’s quite a few products in there that I was looking forward to trying out and have been very impressed with, as well as some old favourites that have made a welcome return into my beauty drawer. I think my favourite new discovery is the Terry de Gunzberg perfume which I used up within the space of a few weeks; it was the only perfume I wore for that entire time and was perfect for both day and evening wear. I think I’ll be reviewing individual items on here over the coming weeks/months.
I do think House Of Fraser can be relatively overlooked by people when seeking an outfit, cosmetics or accessories and I’m not really sure why; they have a fantastic range of items and are reasonably priced too. I especially like popping into House of Fraser at Christmas and browsing their shelves for an age as they have lots of novelty and unique products to choose from, plus great little stocking fillers too which are always a welcome addition!
With a wide choice of designers and brands, spanning across the age ranges and fashion genres, House of Fraser really is an all-rounder and I’ll definitely be checking their website/stores when I’m looking for gifts for loved ones or outfits for special occasions in the future. It always pains me when I’ve overlooked a retailer for any length of time, and I’m definitely regretting not spending more time browsing House of Fraser’s stock in the past!
