As you know, I’m currently in the process of clearing my debts so I’m always looking for ways to raise more money. I always share these with you and, once my debts are cleared, I plan on writing everything down and making a sort of ‘Help Guide’ showing how I managed it. It’s not easy, not by any stretch of the imagination, but if you turn clearing your debts into a game (of sorts) then it makes it much more bearable.
One of the recent ways I’ve discovered in which you can potentially claw in a little extra money is by way of a website called Value My Stuff. Let’s be honest, we all have items in our homes that don’t get the love they deserve and perhaps could be better off living with someone who appreciates them, rather than just taking up space and being ignored, right?
If you are happy with the valuation and want to go ahead and sell, Value My Stuff can then help you sell at auction, obtain insurance or exhibit the piece, if it is suitable to do so. Or, you can simply find out a little bit more about what it is you have.
Of course, you’re not obliged to make use of their services and can sell the item yourself, arrange your own insurance, or make your own arrangements to exhibit.
Valuations start at just £7.50 which is substantially less than it would cost me to travel to a valuer in London!
Unfortunately, I don’t own anything of any historical importance of value (*sob*) but if I did and I wanted a valuation, I think I’d be tempted to go ahead and make use of Value My Stuff. Also, if I was interested in purchasing an item, I also think the £7.50 charge would be worth it to check whether you’re in with a chance of making a profit.
Another definite plus point is the fact you don’t actually have to leave the comfort of your home, so can obtain your valuation around your working hours and at your own convenience – perfect in this modern age where time is so precious!
As an aside, is anyone else mega impressed by valuers and how they can price up how much things are worth? It never fails to amaze me how bibliographic their minds are when it comes to their chosen area of expertise!
