As you’ve probably gathered from the posts of this week, I absolutely loved Amsterdam but I’m all too aware that in the short space of time I was there, I only managed to scratch the surface of what the city has to offer and there is so much more to do.
With this in mind I’ve already started doing some research for a return trip, hopefully next year, and have put together a little list of things I want to do in Amsterdam when I’m next there.
After our busy day exploring Amsterdam NOORD and indulging in a vegan Christmas in September with the ClinkNOORD team the night before, we awoke on Sunday morning bright and early for a day of exploring central Amsterdam.
As she had been there before, Haydy had set us a little itinerary for the day to make sure that I saw all the key parts of the city before we had to leave for the airport to catch our flight home.
Waking up in ClinkNOORD Amsterdam on our first full day in Amsterdam I felt ready and refreshed for the day ahead. A quick breakfast downstairs, a team-bonding “WTF?!” as we all collectively found out Kylie Jenner is allegedly pregnant, and we were off to meet the Clink team for a briefing as to the activities the day held in store for us.
As most visitors to the city tend to stay central, the team wanted to share with us some of what Amsterdam Noord had to offer. Being less frequented by tourists, it’s a real treasure trove of relatively unknown attractions and experiences, and we were going to spend the day finding out about them.
With my phone and camera at the ready, I was in full tourist mode and ready to find out more.
On our first full day in Amsterdam with ClinkNOORD, we were treated to a full schedule of fun (which I’ll tell you all about tomorrow), and told that they would be providing us with dinner, but that there would be a twist to it.
We spent our day pondering what it could be, throwing ideas around which ranged from it being an entirely raw meal to something a bit more Henry VIII and a banquet with wine and mounted animals heads for décor. As you can tell, we had not a clue what to expect.
If you follow me on any of my social media accounts then it can’t have escaped your notice that I recently spent a weekend in Amsterdam. I mean, I’ve hardly stopped banging on about it to be fair.
For me, this was a pretty big thing. First of all, this is the first time this little blog of mine has afforded me the opportunity to go abroad, so that was a pretty major step. Secondly, with my brain positively frazzled from the happenings of 2017, I felt like this break away couldn’t have come at a better time. Medicine for the soul, as they say.
The weekend itself was going to be spent at ClinkNOORD, the Dutch cousin of the two Clink London hostels (one of which I have stayed in twice previously and loved). This would be my first time to Amsterdam and having been told by other people what a great place it is I knew I was going to like it, but nothing really could have prepared me for just how much I was going to like it. I fell in love with it – as a City, it’s everything people say and so much more.
