If you ever asked people to define me, I think one of the first things they would ever say is that I love animals. I’ve always been the same since I was a little girl and any opportunity to interact with a critter is one that I’ll grab with both hands.
Eye contact with a dog in the street? All over it.
Watch a squirrel digging a little hole to hide it’s winter supplies? I love it.
Stroke a random cat in the street and wonder if it wants to come home with me? YESSSSSS.
I think this part of my personality is definitely down to the way I was brought up – we always had pets as without them our home would feel empty, and my parents would go as far as to wake us up and get us out of bed in the night to watch hedgehogs pottering around the garden, or to sit under blankets looking up at bats flitting around in the night sky.
When it comes to my own pets, I love them unashamedly. Every single day I commute home with a bubbling excitement about seeing them. As I walk in the door, all three of them are stood there waiting to greet me, with the dog’s tail wagging so frantically I fear it might fall off, and the cats meowing and pushing their little furry heads against me.
For me, there is no other love like it. (Sorry Ben!)
One of the important things for me, when it comes to my pets, is making sure that they are healthy and well cared for at all times. I keep them topped up with their treatments and keep their claws trimmed (although Poppy managed to tear one of her claws out last week and had to have an operation to remove it, cue heartbreak for me and a million cuddles for her!) As well as this, I also make sure to feed them good quality food – it’s surprising how many pet food brands out there are essentially junk food, so it pays to do a bit of research before you buy anything.
Sad little puppy with her bandage.
IAMS are one of the good guys when it comes to animal feed and their Proactive Health (which is available for dogs and cats) has chicken and turkey as its main ingredient; meaning your pet is getting high quality animal protein in to their diet which aids in building strong muscles and keeping their skin and coats healthy. In fact, it offers dogs 24% and cats 47% more protein than the top two leading brands currently do – that’s pretty significant!
Although I don’t feed Poppy IAMS as she has to have a specific diet, my cats both love their biscuits and make it known when the bowl is empty as they stand directly in front of us and scream! They literally go mad whenever I refill the bowl, even if they’ve already got some wet food, and it feels good to know that not only am I feeding them something they enjoy, but that it is going to be doing their health good as well.
Whether you’re a fan of IAMS and have fed it to your pets in the past, or you’ve never tried it and want to see whether your furry friend likes it, I’ve got a little giveaway for you today!
